We give thanks to God for the many exciting mission opportunities in the decade of 2020s. The COCM staff team has experienced rapid growth in the past three years, with over 30 new workers joining COCM as long-term missionaries. In 2024, we continue to expand on all ministry fronts, and we are seeing fruitful results in our new ministry developments and church planting projects across the UK.
One of the challenges we need to face as we move forward is seeking additional resources to fund the growing staff team and expanding ministry projects.
Thanks be to God who continues to raise up churches and believers to support us through prayer, participation, and provision. This year (2024), a group of four donors in the USA offered to match up to a total of USD$100,000 (GBP£78,000) to the designated Matching Fund.
I am excited to share with you this wonderful opportunity and invite you to take part in this worldwide matching fund drive to provide much needed financial support for COCM. Whatever amount you contribute to the Matching Fund will be doubled and it will go a long way to help COCM to follow God’s lead and catch the new mission waves He engineers in our mission field.

The Chinese Overseas Christian Mission is committed to the fundamental truths of historic biblical Christianity, in accordance with which we affirm:
1 There is one, eternal God, Creator and Lord of heaven and earth who, in the unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, both governs all things according to God’s will and is accomplishing God’s purpose in the world and in the church.
2 The Holy Scriptures as originally given are in their entirety inspired by God’s Spirit through human authors and constitute the revelation of God’s truth to humanity. They are wholly true and trustworthy in all that they affirm. Whatever the Bible, rightly interpreted, is found to teach, we are bound to believe and obey. It is our supreme authority in every matter of belief and conduct.
3 All human beings are created in God’s own likeness and therefore have inherent value and equality before God. Human sin and guilt since the fall have rendered us subject to God’s wrath and condemnation and have resulted in our alienation from God’s life, suppression of God’s truth and hostility to God’s law. God’s love desires all to come to repentance and to be reconciled rather than condemned.
4 Salvation from the guilt, penalty and all other consequences of sin has been achieved solely through the atoning work of Jesus Christ – his perfect obedience, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection and exaltation as Lord. Jesus alone is truly God and truly human, the only mediator between God and humanity. There is salvation through no other person, creed, process or power. Each sinner is justified before God and reconciled to God only by divine grace appropriated by faith alone.
5 The work of the Holy Spirit is necessary for the individual’s new birth and growth to maturity. The Holy Spirit empowers and indwells the church, enabling its constant renewal in truth, wisdom, faith, holiness, love, ministry, power and mission. The Holy Spirit equips all believers with gifts for ministry and these are to be used as the Bible teachers and to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
6 There is one, holy universal and apostolic church, which is the Body of Christ, and to which all true believers belong. Each local congregation is called to worship God, to preach God’s word, to baptise, to celebrate the Lord’s Supper, and to serve God in the world.
7 As the Father sent the Son into the world, so the Lord Jesus Christ sends his church to participate in God’s mission by words and works. The church is called: to make Christ known; to proclaim God’s truth and the gospel of God’s grace; to make disciples among all nations; to exhibit God’s character through compassionate care for the needy, creative and sacrificial living, the community of love, the quest for righteousness, justice and peace, and the care of God’s creation.
8 As the Lord Jesus ascended to his Father, so he will return personally, visibly and in glory. He will raise the dead and bring salvation and judgement to final completion. God will then fully establish his Kingdom and finish the new creation – a new heaven and a new earth from which all evil and evildoers, all suffering and death, will be excluded and in which God will be glorified forever.
Chinese Overseas Christian Mission (COCM) is an inter-denominational mission with the objective of bringing the gospel to the Chinese scattered over Europe and local Europeans through multi-facet ministries. It was founded by Rev. Stephen Wang in 1950. The vision then was “Where the Chinese are, there Christ must be.”
In the past 60 years, we have grown substantially. The scope of work now covers UK and countries on the European continent. There are 4 Overseas Boards in different parts of the world. In July 2008, Rev. Henry Lu succeeded Mary Wang as our General Director. “Reaching the Chinese to Reach Europe” became our extended vision.
In fruitful partnership with like-minded churches and para-church organizations:
Evangelizing the Chinese in Europe. Equipping and discipling believers to mature in Christ, take responsibility in Christian service through local churches and be God's servants to a needy world. Encouraging and supporting church and mission leaders to partner in mission, pass on the good news of salvation to people intra-culturally and cross-culturally throughout Europe and beyond.
The late founder Pastor Stephen Wang began the gospel ministry among the Chinese in 1950 in which year the Chinese Church in London was established. In 1961, COCM was registered in the UK as a charity. Church planting was an integral part of the early ministry. Pioneer workers would establish CCF's, mostly made up of students, around the UK. Eventually, COCM would assist them in establishing a constitution and helping them to become churches.
Over the years, COCM has published various publications to promote the work. There has also been an increase in the work in Europe. With the development of the Training Department, Youth Department, and Intercessory Prayer Department, COCM prepares itself for the future

COCM Gospel Team was established in May 2010. We partner with different local Chinese churches and fellowships to organize student gospel events across UK and European continent between August and November each year. All events are targeted for Mandarin-speaking students. Our work includes conducting evangelistic skills training; organizing evangelistic meetings and providing after-event support.
Bible camps aim to provide solid biblical studies to mature Christians so that they may become practitioners and doers of the words of God by being inspired, equipped and refreshed during their studies and discussions in the Bible camps.
PHAT Camp is a 4-day event where hundreds of us, from all over the UK,
gather together to journey with God and explore our faith.
The Year-end Mandarin Gospel Camps are yearly gospel camps organised by COCM. It aims to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, build up and strengthen the participants' faith and provide serving opportunities for Christians who are committed to grow and experience Christ. According to the different age group and background of the participants, the Year-end gospel camp will be divided into Family camp and Student camp.
The Southern England Easter Conference is a Christian conference for Cantonese-speaking university students in the south of England.
The ReGeneration Conference is a Christian conference for
English-speaking university students in the United Kingdom and Europe, organised by the Chinese Overseas Christian Mission (COCM).
The Easter Mandarin Student Discipleship Camp is a yearly discipleship camp for Christians held around Easter time that is organised by COCM. It aims to challenge the lives of believers in Christ — to learn obedience, commitment, following Christ, and upholding and serving each other.
TEE (Theological Education by Extension) provides distance learning courses to Chinese Christians in the UK and Europe. The students can get training in biblical studies, theology, spiritualities, and ministries, according to their own pace.
Crossover is the short-term missions programme of the Chinese Overseas Christian Mission for Next Generation Chinese Christians in the United Kingdom.
COCM’s volunteer scheme mainly uses our mission organization as a platform to recruit committed young Christians to take an active part in the ministry of our mission. Volunteers have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the frontline of the mission field, experience life as a missionary, receive practical training and learn to be like Jesus in His humble service.
